When should you see an emergency dentist?

  • Persistent toothache that only temporarily improves with painkillers
  • Dental injury (broken/chipped tooth, trauma)
  • Swollen, painful gums
  • Orthodontic appliance causing mouth injury and your regular dentist is unavailable
  • Post-wisdom tooth surgery complication and you can’t reach your own dentist

Home Care for Acute Dental Issues

Mild oozing during the first 24–48 hours is normal. Place a clean gauze pad on the wound and bite down for 15–20 minutes. Avoid rinsing, sucking, or consuming hot food and drinks. If the bleeding is heavy (fills the mouth in 2–3 seconds) or persistent, contact us immediately.

Mild swelling is normal for 2–3 days post-treatment. Apply a cold pack for 20 minutes at a time during the first 72 hours. If the swelling increases suddenly or is accompanied by fever, don’t hesitate to call us.

Urgent care is important to assess possible root canal damage and restore the tooth. Contact us right away and we’ll take care of you.

Take a painkiller to relieve discomfort and book the earliest available appointment so we can treat the cause.

Baby teeth can sometimes be saved if treated in time. Keep the tooth moist (under the tongue or in milk) and bring your child in as soon as possible.

Normally, you should contact your orthodontist, but we understand they may not be available now. If orthodontic wax no longer helps, give us a call – we can help realign the wire.

Patient, efficient, helpful, highly professional and highly skilled: after the several procedures they have carried out for me over the last few months, I'm extremely glad I chose Citydent and very grateful for the work Dr Szalontai and his colleagues have done.
